This festival is held every year on the third Sunday in April. The festival revolves around the Shirahige Shrine, and is a sort of a puppet-master competition. Six small Hanayama (“Flower Mountain”) floats make an appearance. On the Hanayama cars, people use gears and other contraptions to lace silk thread and give life to moveable puppet-like dolls. The secret of the movement of the doll is a unique technique, and they are evaluated by terms of historical and artistic value.
