Kintaikyo Bridge Festival

09:00 - 17:00

Taking place every year on the the birthday of Showa-Emperor Hirohito (April 29), this festival has parades, processions, and even a flea market. The highlight of this festival is a reenactment of the local lords returning home across the grand, famous Kintai Bridge. The procession features local residents as well as representatives from the local US military base dressed in traditional Edo-era costumes. As they make their way across the bridge, another team of locals in samurai armor recreate a small battle with guns from the Edo era. There are plenty of food stalls in the festival area as well.
