Bunkyo Ajisai Matsuri (Hydrangea Festival)

From to

Held every year for a little over a week-long period in June, this is one of the most popular hydrangea festivals in the Tokyo area. Bunkyo City’s Ajisai Matsuri celebrates the 3,000 hydrangeas around Hakusan Shrine and Hakusan Park that bloom here every year during Japan’s rainy season. At Hakusan Shrine, the main site of the Hydrangea Festival, a number of food stalls and pop-up tents selling potted hydrangeas line the path leading up to the shrine.
